Wolf-Rayet nebulae as tracers of stellar ionizing fluxes
We use WR124 (WN8h) and its associated nebula M1–67, to test theoretical non-LTE models for Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars. Lyman continuum ionizing flux distributions derived from a stellar analysis of WR124, are compared with nebular properties via photo-ionization modelling. Our study demonstrates the significant role that line blanketing plays in affecting the Lyman ionizing energy distribution of W...
متن کاملGalactic Planetary Nebulae with Wolf-rayet Nuclei Iii. Kinematical Analysis of a Large Sample of Nebulae
Expansion velocities (Vexp) of different ions and line widths at the base of the lines are measured and analyzed for 24 PNe with [WC]-type nuclei (WRPNe), 9 PNe ionized by WELS (WLPNe) and 14 ordinary PNe. A comparative study of the kinematical behavior of the sample clearly demonstrates that WRPNe have in average 40-45% larger Vexp, and possibly more turbulence than WLPNe and ordinary PNe. WLP...
متن کاملSpectroscopic study of the planetary nebulae with Wolf-Rayet nuclei in the Magellanic Clouds
UV and optical spectrophotometric data of planetary nebulaewithWRnuclei in theMagellanic Clouds are presented. Analysis of the nebular characteristics shows that the ionized gas, in all the objects, is extremely C-rich, probably due to contamination with freshly-made C from stellar nucleosynthesis. Very high electron densities are found (Ne ≥ 104 cm−3) which are interpreted as an indication of ...
متن کاملNewly Discovered Wolf-Rayet and Weak Emission-Line Central Stars of Planetary Nebulae
We present spectra of 32 previously unpublished confirmed and candidate Wolf-Rayet ([WR]) and weak emission-line (WELS) central stars of planetary nebulae (CSPNe). Eighteen stars have been discovered in the Macquarie/AAO/Strasbourg Hα (MASH) PN survey sample, and we have also uncovered 14 confirmed and candidate [WR]s and WELS among the CSPNe of previously known PNe. Spectral classifications ha...
متن کاملWolf-Rayet and LBV Nebulae as the Result of Variable and Non-Spherical Stellar Winds
The physical basis for interpreting observations of nebular morphology around massive stars in terms of the evolution of the central stars is reviewed, and examples are discussed, including NGC 6888, OMC-1, and η Carinae.
